Koolewong
bushfire recovery.

We helped with removal and clean-up after the Koolewong fires. On this steep hillside, we worked largely by hand and used machinery where the access allowed.

After the fires

Our work took us onto a fire-affected hillside above a narrow driveway. The slope, rocky steps and trees limited how close we could bring machinery to the removal area.

Working with the terrain

We removed much of the material by hand, using machinery where access allowed.

Higher up the slope, we worked between trees and exposed rock, moving material towards the driveway below.

Supporting the clean-up

We used coverings to help contain debris while moving material downhill from the work area.

Planning a similar project

For a fire-affected property with steep access, share existing asbestos or material assessments with the structural and insurer’s reports. Suspected asbestos needs assessment before ordinary debris handling; do not shift fragments or enter the damaged area to gather information for an enquiry.

Describe the steps, slopes, narrow sections and loading route using photographs already available, and tell us what needs to remain. The material assessment and any specialist removal will help define which access and clearing work can proceed, with required clearance and the next contractor’s responsibilities agreed for your property.
